Let us display Him!

After almost 3 years of knowing him, a friend of mine who is Muslim asked me to pray for him because he "might be following the wrong path," referring to his Muslim beliefs. This was after coming to church with me and being around some of my friends who are passionately in love with Jesus. I now see how truly contagious it is when you are living your life fully for Him, outwardly, and what a witness it is to those around you. It impacted my friend! He saw something real, something he did not have and although he didn't say it, probably something he wanted. Hallelujah! The Lord is working on his heart, slowly, but surely. I am thankful for my fellow brothers and sisters who are not ashamed, but lift His name high, standing firm in their faith! Pray that God will continue to open his eyes, even giving him a dream or vision.

::Sony::

I found out yesterday that my friend, Sonia Hall, passed away. Sony, as she liked to be called, lived at Golden Age Manor, the nursing home my class visits. I've been visiting with Sony for about 6 months now and last night I decided to bring her some flowers to brighten up her room. As I walked down the hall and looked to the 3rd door on the left where she stays, her name was gone. I went to the next door, just to be sure I wasn't at the wrong door and her name was nowhere to be found. Some nurses at the end of the hall asked who I was looking for and when I told them they asked who I was to her. I told them I was her friend to which they replied, "Sonia passed away 3 days ago." I was shocked and tears immediately came to my eyes. I never saw Sony put her trust in the Lord although we had a few conversations about Him. I don't know if she finally surrendered to Him before leaving this world, but I know she had a chance to. She heard the truth and I hope I will see her one day in Heaven. God says that His word does not go out without accomplishing what it was sent forth for and will not return to Him void. He also says that He wants that none should perish. Some people's hearts are hardened, but some are softened and receive salvation even if right before meeting their Maker. I am ok with not seeing the fruit of my labor, but I hope so much that there was fruit and that I will see her again. Any person we meet could die at any time. We must speak the truth in love as often as the Lord gives us the opportunity. How will they be saved if they never hear and how will they hear if we do not tell them?

Life is an on-going mission

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who is not a Christian and he helped me realize once again that missions is not an allotted time frame where there is a goal of sharing the love of Jesus as much as possible for that period. Missions is the Christian's life, every day, every moment. Every Christian is called to be on mission all the time. It's so easy to separate our spiritual mission and our earthly mission (job, activities, friends). They should collide, become like food coloring that gets squirted into water. The food coloring is Jesus Christ and the water is your life. Once the food coloring is in the water, it begins to penetrate until every part of the water is colored with it. There is no separating it again. So I press on in my God-given mission to make His name remembered, to take the fragrance of Christ to every place I go, every person I meet!
